  • As a freshman, he collected 54 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, seven sacks and one forced fumble, which earned him all-county honors.

Scouting Dossier

PFF
Woods offers an ideal blend of size, strength and athleticism, with true scheme versatility. His explosive first step and ability to convert speed to power make him disruptive at the line of scrimmage. If he expands his pass-rush plan, he can turn pressures into more impactful production.
Strengths
● Mid-cut, athletic frame with thickness throughout ● Nimble big man with lateral quickness to threaten multiple gaps ● Comes off the ball with low pads and active hands, helping him stay detached ● Has quick arm-over and club-rip moves to force his way through gaps ● Noticeable fluidity on stunts and twists (also effective as a pinner) ● Stays square in the run game and doesn’t get turned ● Quick to key and disrupt in the screen game ● Tape is full of effort plays, both against the run and as a pass rusher ● Logged 15 offensive snaps in goal-line/short-yardage spots in 2025 (eight carries for 15 yards and two touchdowns)
Weaknesses
● Lacks ideal arm length, and size appears maxed out ● Should be a better gap shooter given his burst off the ball ● More explosive in space than when trying to shed blocks ● Can be too easily moved by angle/drive blocks ● Tick late off snap leaves him out-leveraged ● Leaves tackle production on the field and needs to be a better finisher, especially in backfield ● Put effort plays on tape, but also appeared to be going through the motions late in 2025 ● Missed two games as sophomore because of left leg injury suffered on cut block (Sept. 2024)
Projection
A two-and-a-half-year starter at Clemson, Woods shuffled up and down the line in defensive coordinator Tom Allen’s four-man front. After earning Freshman All-American honors in 2023, he received All-ACC honors in each of the last two seasons. He was tabbed as a potential top-five draft pick entering his junior season, but he struggled to match that hype in 2025, posting up-and-down tape and poor production (14 pressures, 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks over 12 games). Draft projections for Woods will depend on a team’s willingness to grade to his flashes. He moves with big-man twitch and has the foot quickness to elude blocks in tight quarters. However, for a player with his explosive traits, he doesn’t have many quick wins on his tape and needs to learn how to diversify his rush approach. But he consistently saw four hands from blockers each snap and produced enough splash plays to believe he will be a more stable player in the future. Overall, Woods flashes the ability to win with 402 Back to table of contents -- 406 of 629 -- quickness, strength and hand usage — and the next step in his development is for him to do so more consistently. He offers scheme diversity, although he projects best as a three-/4i-technique DT.

Freak Notes

  • Feldman-Freaks-2025 · #5
After a freshman All-American season in 2023, the Alabama native emerged as a bigger force last season, making 32 tackles, 8.5 TFLs and three sacks while splitting time between DE and DT. The 6-3 20-year-old is quite the physical Freak, ranking in the top five on the team in muscle mass when he arrived as a true freshman in 2023. His latest body composition scans prior to camp showed that 240 of his 310 pounds are lean muscle mass. He’s a rare combination of power and speed for a 300-plus pounder. This offseason, Woods bench pressed 490 pounds and did 34 reps of 225. He squatted 700 pounds and power cleaned 385, ran a 4.86 40-yard dash and vertical jumped 33 inches. Don’t be surprised if Woods ends up as a top-5 NFL Draft pick when he leaves Clemson. He’s special. Peter Woods (11) will likely be a high NFL Draft pick in 2026.Ken Ruinard / Imagn Images
