Scouting Dossier
PFF
Dunker has tackle experience but projects best to guard due to his build and skill set. He flashes devastating power, particularly in zone schemes, but must clean up inconsistencies with balance and patience to raise his floor.
Strengths
● Square, stout frame, with good length and quality bulk in his shoulders, chest and quads
● Powerful in the run game and has pop in his large hands
● Centers attack points and creates drive lift at contact
● Understands landmarks as zone blocker
● Efficient in his setup and reactionary movements as a pass blocker
● Relies on upper-body strength to stymie and redirect rush speed
● Intelligence is obvious, both on and off the field
270 Back to table of contents
-- 274 of 629 --
● Reliable practice habits; works hard to keep good weight on his body
● Easygoing personality (NFL scout: “Sharp dude … and one of the more popular guys in the program.”)
Weaknesses
● Mechanical footwork leaves him in recovery mode when attempting to mirror wide rush alignments
● Gets his head out over his skis and spends too much time on the ground
● Overreliant on his stout frame and allows rushers to access his chest
● Frequently jarred on his heels and put in reverse
● Underwent surgery during his first year at Iowa to address a broken sesamoid bone suffered in high school, forcing him to redshirt
in 2021 (also missed 2022 spring practices); offseason shoulder surgery following the 2023 season; played through a broken pinkie
in 2023; missed two games as a junior because of a knee injury; “minor” procedure to address an ankle injury in spring of 2025
Projection
A three-year starter at Iowa, Dunker was entrenched at right tackle in offensive coordinator Tim Lester’s zone-based scheme. He put
himself on the NFL radar in 2023 and earned All-Big Ten recognition as a junior and senior. He was arguably the most consistent part
of an Iowa offensive line that won the 2025 Joe Moore Award as the top O-line in college football.
With his red-haired mullet and brute strength, Dunker is described by his teammates as a Paul Bunyan-like folk hero. And that
demeanor translates to the field in his point-of-attack strength and old-school toughness (he doesn’t wear gloves or tape on his hands).
He loads ammo into his hands to be a nasty mauler in the run game, creating movement when he drops his pads. He uses that same
mentality as a pass blocker but can be manipulated out of position and shows some lower-body stiffness in space. Overall, Dunker
has inconsistent reactionary skills on an island, but his square power, fierce hands and aggressive mentality belong
on an NFL field. He projects as a guard with starting potential and tackle flexibility.
