Scouting Dossier
PFF
Halton is an undersized, versatile defensive lineman who wins with quickness, effort and movement skills. His lack of strength can be an issue, but he fits well in multiple or movement-based fronts.
Strengths
● Compact build with developed muscle in his upper and lower halves
● Explosive off the ball — moves more like a defensive end
● Closes like a banshee when he has a clear lane to the football
● Uses subtle shoulder dips to wrap or slash through gaps
● Strong hands to control blocks and find the ball carrier
● Competes with “play isn’t over until it’s over” mindset, which leads to secondary production
● Fan favorite at Oklahoma because of his energy and fun-loving personality
● Displays leadership traits; set the bar high in the weight room (no mystery why he was a 2025 team captain)
Weaknesses
● Frame appears maxed out, including below-average girth and arm length
● Moves with some joint tightness, specifically in his ankles
● Needs to tempo his hands at contact for better speed-to-power success
● Countermeasures need to mature past being just high effort
● Inconsistent shed timing once locked up
● Sheer size can displace him on down blocks
● Amped-up play style leads to missed tackles
● Wasn’t a full-time player — kept fresh by a heavy rotation
Projection
A part-time starter at Oklahoma, Halton played multiple alignments across the front in head coach Brent Venables’ scheme. While
sharing defensive tackle duties with Jayden Jackson, he made his presence known in different ways (his 30 pressures in 2025 were the
second most on the Sooners), despite not playing a high snap count (32.5 defensive snaps per game in 2025; 31.0 in 2024).
Halton is a win-early and clean-up-late player. He has outstanding get-off quickness for early disruption when he times the snap.
(Alabama center Parker Brailsford called him the toughest player he faced in 2025, because of his initial quickness.) When he doesn’t do
that, he switches to an edge-to-edge attacking mindset that leads to clean-up stops or sacks. He plays strong at the point in the run
game, although he is inconsistent in shedding blocks. Overall, Halton is sawed off and can be overwhelmed at times, but he
moves with big-man twitch and his initial quickness and closing speed can be weaponized. A part-time role that
keeps his battery charged will be his best NFL fit.
