injury
  • Allar collected dozens of major offers throughout his junior year, including from Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas A&M.
  • He finished with 73 total touchdowns (third most in school history), but his senior season was marred with inconsistency before he suffered a season-ending ankle injury, which also sidelined him for most of the draft process.

Scouting Dossier

PFF
Allar has the arm talent to play in any offense in the NFL, but he was gun-shy and too inaccurate in 2025. He's a developmental toolsy prospect who needs some time to refine his game.
Strengths
● Tall, well-proportioned body type with functional play strength ● Better-than-average arm strength, and his best throws are vertical attempts ● Ball comes off his hand cleanly; creates drive velocity with minimal effort ● Will stand in the face of impending contact and deliver throws ● Numerous examples on film of him throwing with anticipation ● Can read out entire field and find the backside dig ● Mobility is an asset (8.9 yards per scramble in 2025; 20 scrambles for 178 yards) ● Not sudden, but sturdy and can shake off contact as a runner (4.73 yards after contact in 2025, No. 5 among FBS QBs) ● Quiet, good-natured person — teammates respond to his leadership (two-time captain) ● Pro-level work ethic and self-motivated (NFL scout: “He’s always in the building. Always trying to get better. … Studies with the coaches.”) ● School-record 1.30 career interception percentage (just 13 interceptions on 1,002 pass attempts) ● Won 74.3 percent of games started (26-9 record)
Weaknesses
● Inconsistent rhythm between feet, eyes and arm, which disrupts throws ● Messy footwork directly affects accuracy ● Streaky ball placement and misses too many layups on checkdowns or quick-game attempts ● Inconsistent touch on bucket throws ● Sabotages himself with late decision-making (48.5 percent completions on third downs in 2025) ● Release can get too long at times (rare arm length for a quarterback) ● Athletic big man, but not dynamic to make defenders miss in tight spaces ● Struggled to create big plays in 2025 (just 13 completions of 20-plus yards, which ranked 112th in the FBS at the time of his injury) ● Inconsistent chemistry with his wide receivers was a theme each of his three seasons as a starter ● Missed the second half of his senior season — and most of the NFL Draft process — because of broken left ankle (Oct. 2025), which required surgery
Projection
A three-year starter at Penn State, Allar operated both under center and out of the shotgun in former offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki’s RPO-based, balanced offense. He opened his collegiate career with an FBS-record 311 passing attempts without an interception and showed progress over his first three years on campus. He finished with 73 total touchdowns (third most in school history), but his senior season was marred with inconsistency before he suffered a season-ending ankle injury, which also sidelined him for most of the draft process. With rare size for a QB, Allar can drive the ball with ease and generally makes sound decisions, although issues pop up when he is late to pull the trigger. He tends to get overly conservative with his reads, which leads to second-guessing, and needs more reps to continue developing his passing instincts (didn’t start playing quarterback until high school). He is better than expected as a scrambler (81 first downs as a ball carrier over 35 career starts). Overall, Allar is a sturdy, strong-armed passer with promising intangibles, 9 Back to table of contents -- 13 of 629 -- but underdeveloped timing disrupts his ability to execute at a high level. He has NFL starting-caliber physical tools, although a lack of natural passing rhythm creates uncertainty about his developmental ceiling.
