Scouting Dossier

PFF
Strengths
● Rare height, body length and wingspan for the position ● Purges catch space with his long arms and angular size ● Aggressive ball skills and body position help him limit completions ● Long strider with above-average straight-line speed to carry vertical routes ● Parks himself at the line and makes it tough for receivers to get around him ● Deciphers route concepts on time from zone depth ● Not a strike-through tackler but length helps him corral and get his man on the ground ● Solid feedback from team sources — isn’t overly vocal but consistent inside the building
Weaknesses
● High cut, with sticky hips and mediocre lateral agility ● Shows slight delay when overlapping coverage ● Upright and late to react to sudden route breaks ● Left production on the field by playing the sticks instead of the ball ● Flagged for pass interference four times in seven games in 2025, including two (vs. Rutgers, vs. Illinois) that negated his own interceptions ● Wiry muscle and finishing strength — NFL scouts want to see improved compete skills in run support ● Missed six games as a senior because of separate injuries — three because of a rib injury (September 2025); final three because of a “severe” hamstring pull (November 2025)
Projection
A one-year starter at Washington (and three-year starter overall), Davis was an outside cornerback (left and right) in defensive coordinator Ryan Walters’ scheme. While at Arizona, he put himself on the NFL radar with a standout sophomore season (Pac-12-best 16 passes defended). He didn’t match that production over his junior and senior seasons but played well enough to maintain his status in the “intriguing” bucket for NFL scouts. With the largest wingspan among all defensive backs at the 2026 NFL combine, Davis has the length that limits air space and gives quarterbacks doubt about throwing his way. He is guilty of false steps in his attempts to mirror and match, which creates underneath windows, but his linear acceleration helps him stay on top of deep routes. He needs to figure out how to turn the “almost” interceptions into turnovers. Overall, Davis has truly unique measurables for a cornerback, which work against him at times, but his size-speed traits and ball skills are worth the gamble. Though he has tools for press-man teams, he projects best as a zone corner in Cover 3 looks.
