Scouting Dossier
PFF
Strengths
● Checks boxes for height, weight, length and wingspan
● Really physical — mixes it up with receivers from first snap to the last
● Forceful jam hands to reroute receivers
● Explosive laterally to mirror and shadow in trail technique
● Balanced hip flip to turn-run-turn on the same vertical plane
● Allows length work for him downfield, with ball production to show for it
● Gets his man on the ground as a tackler
● Innately motivated in football and life (NFL scout: “He barely knew his teammates at Senior Bowl, but he was that dude in the
huddle pumping everybody up.”)
● Reliable person and competitor
Weaknesses
● Overeager at times in press, which can lead to early missteps
● Gets a little tall in his pedal, leading to a delay in his drive mechanics
● Loses a little steam when he turns to find the ball
● Inconsistent eye awareness from zone
● Good interception numbers but left a few on the turf
● Lacks ideal shed strength to easily discard blocks
● Never had more than 18 tackles in a single season (just 63 for his career)
● Missed five games because of minor injuries over past three seasons
● Almost all his tape came against FCS competition (allowed a TD catch vs. Houston in 2025)
Projection
A starter for three-and-a-half years at Stephen F. Austin, Demmings played mostly to the boundary in former defensive coordinator
Mike Mutz’s scheme. Having very little football experience before college, he blossomed at the FCS level and spurned lucrative NIL
offers to play in a Power 4 conference, staying loyal to SFA and earning his degree. He led the team in passes defended as a sophomore,
junior and senior (31 passes defended over his final 32 college starts).
Physically, Demmings is a balanced athlete with length, change-of-direction skills and top-end speed. He can do a better job reading the
route, instead of just playing the receiver, but he competes with supreme confidence and skillfully tracks the ball to play through the
hands. He is more comfortable in press man than zone, although some play-strength concerns show up (in coverage and run support).
Overall, Demmings has some learning-on-the-job lessons waiting for him in the NFL, but he has the cover athleticism
and mental toughness to weather that storm and be better for it. He can offer immediate depth on defense and
special teams.
