Scouting Dossier

PFF
Strengths
● Tall, broad blocker with thickness in his lower half (nickname is “Moose”) ● Quick off the ball to protect either gap versus explosive rushers (didn’t allow a sack in 2025) ● Can refit and lose slowly vs. bull rushers ● Moves well for his size, with the agility to execute reach blocks and pulls ● Can function at second level and very active when uncovered ● Showed newfound confidence as a senior ● Served as a game captain for three games in 2025 (NFL scout: “Staff said he was the ringleader getting the O-line room together, in and out of the building.”) ● Played in 50 games; snaps spread between left guard (43.4 percent), center (36.6 percent) and right guard (19.9 percent)
Weaknesses
● Average core strength and can be jostled off balance by power ● Feet can get a little overactive, leading to over-sets ● Fits up defenders but average finisher and doesn’t overmatch anyone ● Wish there was more pop once he reaches linebackers at second level ● Overextends himself in run game and struggles to sustain for extended periods ● Mental mistakes decreased in 2025 but still an area that needs addressed ● Has played a lot of football but has just one season of NFL-worthy tape
Projection
A four-year starter at Kentucky, Burton lined up at center (right-handed snapper) in his final season in former offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan’s scheme. He bounced between positions as an underclassman, including center in 2023 — a short-lived stay because of his struggles there. After reps at both guard spots, he moved back to center for his senior season and changed the narrative with NFL scouts. Burton is a good-looking athlete for his size, with foot quickness as a pass blocker and range in the run game. However, he isn’t a true mauler who plays up to his size or knocks defenders back on contact. The biggest wild card for his NFL transition is the consistency of his confidence and calls/adjustments. Overall, Burton needs to continue developing his sustain skills and the mental aspects of the position, but he is a quick-win blocker with position flexibility across the interior. He offers intriguing value for zone-based schemes on Day 3.
