Scouting Dossier

Strengths
● Athletic mover for his size with good snap quickness ● Controlled run defender — flat back and low pads ● Leverages gaps, peeks and works through congestion to find ball carrier ● Able to sink and create lift at point of attack ● Clever shed techniques to work off contact into his tackles ● Accounted for 10 batted balls at the line over the past two seasons ● Vocal “big brother” in the program and brings younger players along (Tyler Onyedim: “When I got to A&M, I relied on him so much. … He’s so smart.”) ● Salt-of-the-earth work ethic serves him well in football and life ● Plays through bumps and bruises; rarely misses games 415 Back to table of contents -- 419 of 629 --
Weaknesses
● Short and compact with mediocre arm length ● Ability to achieve proper extension and hand placement can be hit or miss ● Can get caught off balance and washed by angle blocks ● Late to slide and defend against reach blocks ● Doesn’t have explosiveness to make a living in gaps ● Limited bag of tricks as pass rusher — finished his college career with just 3.5 sacks ● Missed one game as redshirt freshman after breaking a bone in his hand (Sept. 2022); played with a club for the rest of the season
Projection
A two-year starter at Texas A&M, Regis was the nose tackle and played from B-gap to B-gap in head coach Mike Elko’s versatile front. The Aggies have boasted a ton of four- and five-star defensive linemen over the last half-decade, but Regis was a lower-rated recruit and more of an underdog who has earned everything that has come his way. He posted respectable tackle production (49) as a senior, especially for a nose tackle. With his short, thick frame, Regis is built low to the ground with quickness and motor to consistently be a factor. He will have a tough time disconnecting from longer-armed blockers in the NFL, but he plays with passion and a GPS for the football. His maturity and dependable presence are valuable qualities in the defensive-line room. Overall, Regis is a compact plugger, and his lack of length shows on tape, but he wins with strength, leverage and instincts to be disruptive versus the run. If there is a Poona Ford-like prospect in this draft class, it is Regis.
