Nice job from #FireUpChips EDGE Michael Heldman hereYou're not sacking anyone when you're behind the QB; he reaches the QB's depth and then spins back in to get home pic.twitter.com/alPUL7xzgh Aaron Hall capitalized on teammate Wesley Williams' strip-sack of Joe Fagnano, diving on the loose ball for a takeaway.

Scouting Dossier

PFF
Strengths
● Thick, well-developed build on broad shoulders ● Active run defender with physical, well-timed hands (models game after Cameron Jordan) ● Quality base strength; sees through blockers to read the backfield ● Adequate snap quickness — at his best rushing down the middle of blocks ● Excellent rush motor, which leads to second-effort pressures ● Has a feel for stunts and games (showed up on tape and during East-West Shrine practices) ● Can out-quick guards as reduced rusher ● Productive on special teams (five career blocks — four field goals, one punt) ● Team captain and described as a “bright” and “even-tempered” leader by NFL scouts ● Always in the facility — refuses to be outworked ● Good backfield production past three seasons
Weaknesses
● Lacks ideal arm length ● Stiff at top of his rush, hindering ability to capture the corner ● Choppy rush plan — tries to mix things up too much ● Smart player off the field but makes some poor mistakes on tape (flagged for roughing the passer four times in 2025) ● Leaves too much tackle production on the field by being late to find his balance and break down ● Can be out-leveraged by kick-out blocks ● Doesn’t consistently close the gap when chasing ● Can reach landmarks when he drops but needs to show better feel for route development
Projection
A starter for two-and-a-half years at Duke, Williams lined up primarily on the edge (five-/seven-technique) in defensive coordinator Jonathan Patke’s four-man front. He committed to a 3-9 program and was a key part of Duke’s turnaround, helping the program to its first ACC Championship since 1962. He combined for 29 tackles for loss over the past three seasons and made a name for himself on special teams (five career blocks). For Williams, the saying “you have to stop the run to rush the passer” feels more like a personal motto. He plays stout on the edge, with the gap integrity and instincts to shut down run lanes. There aren’t a ton of quick wins on his tape as a pass rusher, but his motor leads him home (just two sacks in 2025 but a team-high 46 passing pressures). Overall, Williams is an unselfish, energetic edge defender who plays with quickness and a nose for the football. He projects as a rotational base end who can reduce in subpackages. 363 Back to table of contents -- 367 of 629 --
