Scouting Dossier

PFF
Strengths
● Ideal dimensions on paper, with his height, arm length and hand size 248 Back to table of contents -- 252 of 629 -- ● Uses long arms to engage rushers and center his lower half ● Wide lateral steps help him defend against outside speed ● Rangy mover with functional foot speed on pulls, climbs and screens ● Maintains extension into defenders to seal run lanes ● Able to drive his feet in run game to cover up edge defenders ● Competitive demeanor helps him sustain and finish blocks ● Voted one of six team captains in 2025; member of 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team ● Durable — didn’t miss a start past two seasons
Weaknesses
● High cut with long legs and below-average mass/girth in lower half ● Below-average knee bend and base strength create anchor issues ● Marginal balance — finds himself on the ground too much ● Inconsistent punch timing, which disrupts hand placement and grip ● Needs to shore up footwork in space ● Rough night against Miami’s edge rushers in 2025 season opener ● Unproven position versatility (100 percent of college snaps came at right tackle)
Projection
A two-year starter at Notre Dame, Wagner locked down the right tackle spot in offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock’s varied scheme. He entered the starting lineup as a sophomore and started all 28 games for the Irish over the past two seasons, earning a captaincy as a junior in 2025. Wagner has an interesting body composition — a high-cut frame and lack of lower-body girth but long arms that help him stay attached. He uses his handwork to stay centered and lose slowly, but his lackluster balance and agility limit the ways in which he can recover from compromised situations. His reliability and football character will help his pro chances. Overall, Wagner is an upright, stiff blocker, but his arm length, strain and light feet are saving graces and help him get the job done. He probably won’t offer enough consistency to be an NFL starter but has enough talent to compete for a swing tackle role.
