Scouting Dossier

PFF
Strengths
● Comfortable two-point or three-point stance, on the line or in the box ● Flashes twitch in lower half, with good speed in open field ● Sets up blockers with heavy-handed jabs to access his go-to swipe or cross-chop move ● Rushes with low pads and natural bend as an arc runner ● Physical on the edges; works to maintain run-game leverage ● Sideline pursuit motor to chase ball carriers out of bounds ● Leads with his face and brings his feet as a tackler ● Reserved, yet competitive personality; won’t rock the boat ● Career backfield production jumps off the page
Weaknesses
● Is he a smaller edge or bigger linebacker? ● Lacks ideal arm length — can be engulfed when take-on timing is off ● Mediocre explosiveness and stride length off the snap ● Often finds himself too far upfield, behind the quarterback ● Needs more secondary creativity when initial rush plan is stymied ● Struggles to pattern match as underneath coverage defender ● Opportunistic instincts as a drop player aren’t on tape ● Part-time starter in final season
Projection
A two-year starter at Texas (and four-year starter overall), Moore split his time between the edge and an off-ball role in the box in former defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski’s 4-2-5 base scheme. After two record-setting seasons at UTSA, he took his talents to Austin, but he struggled to maintain the pace set by his underclassman production. A sturdy, compact athlete, Moore combines short-area quickness with toughness through contact to be disruptive. He added nuance to his pass-rush attack over the years and understands how to gain ground by setting up his rush moves. He runs well as a pursuit player, although his stack-and-shed technique will slow him down in the run game. Overall, Moore is a tweener prospect and doesn’t have a dominant trait that will stand out on a field alongside NFL athletes, but he plays hard to maximize his ability. He projects best as a subpackage rusher at the next level. 369 Back to table of contents -- 373 of 629 --
