Scouting Dossier

PFF
Strengths
● Above-average height and length, with lean bulk in his shoulders, traps and arms ● Striding athlete and transitions speed cleanly on posts/corners/fades ● Knows how to release, stack and track — was a steady vertical presence ● Makes sharp route cuts on stems/fakes ● Comfortable expanding catch radius and making full-extension grabs ● Can shake the first defender and find hidden yards with the ball ● Not a rah-rah leader but was a “solid example for the younger receivers,” according to an NFL scout ● Played on kickoff return coverage as a junior in 2024 ● Comfortable playing on the road (all six of his career 100-yard receiving games came away from home)
Weaknesses
● Not a bursty athlete ● Frustrating drops, with too many focus lapses on 2025 tape ● Saw too many contested windows and didn’t produce enough contested catches ● Average play strength, with and without the ball ● Rarely faced a jam and will need to learn how to beat early contact ● Defenders can play through him and find the football ● Hurries through routes and creates tells for defenders 129 Back to table of contents -- 133 of 629 -- ● Break in left fibula (Sept. 2023) and missed the final seven games of his sophomore season; hyperextended knee and bone bruise (April 2025) during spring practices but was cleared for the start of fall camp.
Projection
A two-year starter at Texas Tech (and a two-and-a-half-year starter overall), Douglas was the Z receiver (right of the formation) in offensive coordinator Mack Leftwich’s version of the spread. The Florida transfer started all 27 games over the past 2 seasons and led the Red Raiders in both receiving yards and touchdowns as a senior. More smooth than sudden as an athlete, Douglas can quickly build up his speed and get vertical (his 29 catches of 20-plus yards over the past 2 seasons tied for 10th best in the FBS). With his wingspan and ability to play above the rim, he will make an exciting, full-extension grab on one play but follow it up with a focus drop or inability to play through contact the next. Overall, Douglas needs to play with more consistent ball skills and underneath separation, but he can stride out and be a vertical threat on runway routes. His game is reminiscent of a diet version of Dontayvion Wicks.
