Scouting Dossier
PFF
Strengths
● Tall, sinewy frame with broad shoulders, sturdy build and no bad weight
● Builds deceptive speed and loves to run posts and “9” routes
● Has shake quickness to win in his release and stack press corners
● Reads the hips of corners to attack leverage in his route
● Uses rangy frame to expand catch radius or win in traffic
● Most comfortable in intermediate to deep levels (75.7 percent of receptions at Georgia resulted in either a first down or touchdown)
● Tough to tackle — more slippery than expected for a receiver his size
● Uses size to his advantage as both a runner and blocker
● Strong character feedback from coaches and scouts (NFL scout: “He likes to be coached and is a student of the game … reserved but
polite. … He’ll fit in any locker room.”)
● Instead of preserving himself for the draft process after a 2025 leg injury, he rehabbed rigorously to return for the College Football
Playoff (Zachariah Branch: “Sometimes, people get injured and disappear, but he was nothing like that.”)

Weaknesses
● Not a true burner who can run by whomever he faces on the outside
● Gives press corners a large target at the line
● Early contact eliminates any nuance from his route, especially as an underneath target
● Attempts to use his eyes/head to hold corners, but his tells aren’t tough to spot
● Doesn’t have a special teams background
● Suffered fractured left fibula with a torn ligament, which required surgery and sidelined him for 6 games (October 2025)
● Arrested on misdemeanor charges of battery and assault (Oct. 2024); suspended from team, didn’t play in final nine games of 2024
season because of ongoing investigation; accuser later retracted her statement and initial charges were dropped; Young pleaded no
contest to lesser charge of disorderly conduct (Jan. 2025) and received 12 months probation
Projection
A starter for one-and-a-half years at Georgia and a three-year starter overall, Young was an outside X receiver in offensive coordinator
Mike Bobo’s offense. From the junior college level to Miami and then to Athens, he took a winding road to the NFL’s doorstep — and his
past two seasons didn’t go quite as planned, for several reasons. But he was productive when on the field and fought hard to get back for
Georgia’s College Football Playoff game versus Ole Miss after fracturing his leg.
With his long, sturdy frame, Young passes the eye test and shows his basketball background at the catch point. He comfortably attacks
the ball with graceful body control and uses his ball skills to win in contested situations (his value in the red zone is an untapped
resource). He is a build-up mover and lacks the suddenness or immediate speed to easily create separation, but he has lighter feet than
most players his size. Overall, Young is a big-framed athlete with fluid, long strides and the strong hands needed to
consistently come down with the rock. He is an attractive option for an NFL team seeking a player who’s stylistically
similar to Courtland Sutton.
