All-Star Game Performance
- Senior Bowl 2026www.cbssports.comHere is every one-on-one coverage rep by Pittsburgh LB Kyle Louis: pic.twitter.com/QEcl5gWuFw Draft projection: Round 1 Hood practiced for two days and, aside from a hiccup against Tyren Montgomery in one-on-one drills, looked exactly like the player evaluators expected: a 6-foot, 188-pound corner who is big for his position, fast and sticky with long limbs. Add in his pass catching, and I'm very excited to see the full week of work for the RB. pic.twitter.com/xJCccAOjr9 Draft projection: Round 3 The Senior Bowl featured several talented receivers, including Josh Cameron, Tyren Montgomery and

character
- Based on his highlights, Montgomery drew interest from FCS Nicholls State and joined the team in 2022, but he sat out his first season to get his academics in a good spot.

Scouting Dossier

Strengths
● Play speed is better than what stopwatch says
● Excellent balance in route cuts to open pockets of separation
● Agile feet to work back underneath leverage of cornerbacks
● Mixes up route tempo to attack all three levels
● Natural ball instincts to frame the football from different angles
● Coordinated leaper — contorts his body to pluck the football
● Can see his work ethic in his muscle definition
● No questions about his mental toughness
● Remarkable production — dominated his level of play
Weaknesses
● Lacks football experience against top competition (and in general)
● Mediocre size, speed and strength on draft tag
● Current release package is based more on quickness than skill (flag football background)
● Gives defensive backs indicators for next route movement
● Inconsistent footing in sink and snap after a hard vertical push
● Focus drops are part of his game
● Needs to do a better job using his body to shield at catch point
● Minimal experience on special teams; wasn’t asked to be a return man
● Will be a 25-year-old NFL rookie
Projection
A two-year starter at John Carroll, Montgomery worked primarily on the outside (76.7 percent of snaps). Having taken arguably the
most unlikely path to the NFL of anyone in this draft class, he worked his way to the Division III level and dominated as a junior and
senior. He set single-season school records for catches (119), receiving yards (1,528) and touchdown grabs (17) and finished as John
Carroll’s all-time leading receiver (2,600), despite spending only two years in the program. His production drew the attention of NFL
scouts — 28 of the 32 NFL teams made a school call at John Carroll in fall of 2025. Montgomery is trying to become the program’s first
draft pick since 1991.
Montgomery ran his first route at age 19 and played in his first game at age 22. Aat times, that inexperience is evident in some of his
route/release habits. He faces a gigantic leap in competition, going from Division III to the NFL, but he didn’t look out of place at the
Senior Bowl (as an athlete or wide receiver), and his mental determination should be applauded. Overall, Montgomery is
understandably green in areas, but his route quickness and athletic instincts with the ball in the air are intriguing
qualities worth developing in camp. He is a practice-squad candidate with enough upside to eventually make a
53-man roster.
