Scouting Dossier
Strengths
● Sprinting speed, which shows on tape and the stopwatch
● Acceleration burst helps him regain vertical phase
● Quick to react in smaller spaces to defend slants and comebacks
● Smooth body control to make mid-air adjustments on the football
● Can be a playmaker with the ball (pick six in both 2024 and ‘25)
● Rakes for the football with decent feel for catch-point timing
● Strong-willed tackler on the 2025 tape, limiting YAC opportunities
● Respected voice in Missouri’s defensive back room and “wants to be great,” according to a Missouri source
● Played in 52 games over four collegiate seasons (including on special teams); didn’t miss a game because of injury
Weaknesses
● Smaller-framed athlete, although he has better length than expected
● Impatient feet from press and can be undressed by quick releases
● Overly reliant on speed and can be late to flip his hips
● Route anticipation from zone is underdeveloped
● Better tackler than expected, but matching up vs. NFL size/strength will be different animal
● Too easily boxed out by perimeter blocks and loses balance through contact
● Didn’t see any blitzing reps on tape
Projection
A starter for one-and-a-half years at Missouri, Pride played primarily on the outside with some snaps inside, defending the slot in
defensive coordinator Corey Batoon’s scheme. After things didn’t go as planned at Clemson, he transferred closer to home and was a
reliable presence for the Tigers, while making noticeable improvements between his junior and senior seasons.
Pride ran the second-fastest 40-yard dash (4.32 seconds) among all defensive players at the NFL combine, and that speed shows on the
field. However, some of Pride’s technical shortcomings can leave him in recovery mode more than you’d like to see. Though he
competes with confidence, he also guesses quite often, which leads to separation for the offense. He is no wimp as a tackler, but it’ll be
tougher to finish against NFL ball carriers. Overall, Pride has the speed and ball skills for the next level, but he can be
mismatched against bigger, stronger pass catchers and needs to develop better consistency to earn a spot on a
53-man roster.
