Scouting Dossier

PFF
Strengths
● Towering athlete with exceptional length for the position ● Springy athlete to drive off his spot and accelerate with long strides ● Urgent in coverage reactions, which helps him affect the catch point ● Comfortable lining up against size in the slot ● Physical presence in the run game ● Stays behind his pads as a tackler and when punching off blocks ● Flashes impactful blitzing ability from the nickel ● Team captain who received glowing feedback from the school (NFL scout: “His position coach raves about his loyalty to the team. … [He] does whatever is asked.”) ● Wasn’t a regular on special teams, but that should change in the pros
Weaknesses
● Lacks ideal fluidity and has some gawky movements ● Gets tall in his pedal and transitions ● Doesn’t have long speed to hold up against receivers downfield ● Late reactions to underneath routes across his face ● Needs to improve breakdown skills from depth to finish in space ● Minor knee surgery (Dec. 2025), which sidelined him for the bowl game; right knee injury (September 2023), which initially was expected to sideline him for six weeks, but he “tweaked” that knee while attempting to speed up the timeline and was shut down for the rest of the season
Projection
A two-and-a-half-year starter at Nebraska, Singleton played rover and boundary safety roles as a senior in former defensive coordinator John Butler’s scheme. He aligned at strong safety as an underclassman and played with confidence in the box and when manned up against size. He finished his senior year tied for the team lead in both passes defended and interceptions. Singleton is a good-looking athlete, with NFL size, physicality and presence. He is at his best using his length to crowd tight ends in coverage and throw his body around as a flow tackler. He will have a tough time if asked to mirror and match NFL wide receivers, which will limit opportunities for him to get on the field. However, his intangibles work in his favor. Overall, Singleton has unpolished movement patterns and route processing, but he offers the size and compete skills to be a matchup player against size in the slot. He will need to improve on special teams to justify an NFL roster spot.
