● Sets violent edges; isn’t afraid to take on pulling guards
● Fierce hands and snappy hips to tear through contact and find the ball carrier
● Not-so-subtle rush moves help him break down blockers
● Saw snaps as a bulldozing fullback in short-yardage situations
● Passionate competitor — doesn’t know any other way to play the game

-- 377 of 629 --
● Loves the grind — religious about his weight training
● Pushes rehab and is a fast healer (ran full speed just four months after ACL surgery)
● Hates to come off the field; loves special teams (574 career special teams snaps)
Weaknesses
● High-cut frame and can be kicked out by block leverage
● Pass-rush attack lacks developed nuance
● Mediocre burst and closing speed as a pass rusher
● Arrives hot to the ball, leaving him falling off tackles
● Looks like a fish out of water as a drop player at times
● Torn ACL in left knee (Nov. 2023), which ended his sophomore season
● Below-average starting production (three career sacks)
Projection
A one-year starter at LSU (and two-year starter overall), Pyburn played an edge role in defensive coordinator Blake Baker’s scheme.
After a falling out in Gainesville, he got his career back on an NFL track with the Tigers — he made an impact that isn’t done justice in
the stat sheet.
With his demeanor and musculature, Pyburn looks like the son of Brock Lesnar. He is a strong run defender with the physical hands to
strike, tilt blockers off balance and quickly find the football. His pass-rush approach is overly reliant on physicality, as opposed to set up
or skill, which is reflected in his low sack numbers. He also has some break-down issues as a tackler because of his intense play style.
Overall, Pyburn doesn’t offer much upside as a pass rusher, but he is stout versus the run and competes with a touch
of insanity to him (in a good way). Considering his special teams and toughness, he can make the back end of an NFL
roster.
