Scouting Dossier

PFF
Strengths
● Solidly built, with thickness through his chest, hips and thighs ● Adequate range to defend wide speed and protect the corner ● Improved ability to stay balanced mid-slide ● Flagged for holding just once in 24 starts at Maryland ● Functional quickness into run blocks to fit and cover up ● Leans on defenders and taps into power to create movement ● Able to reach backside and create seals ● Lines up path to engulf at the second level ● Durable; played through minor injuries
Weaknesses
● Shaky balance, which tends to worsen deeper into rep ● Inconsistent reactions to pass-rush tempo ● Misfires with pass-pro punches, opening his chest and inviting rushers ● Late to drop his hips and anchor his feet ● Needs to use more consistent technique with run-blocking hands and posture ● Caught lunging, especially out in space ● Appeared to wear down late in season, compared to early-season tape
Projection
A two-year starter at Maryland (and four-year starter overall), Herron lined up at right tackle in former offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton’s downhill run attack. The native of Jamaica didn’t start playing football until late into high school and developed at the DII level before enrolling at Maryland. His junior tape was barely worthy of being on the NFL radar, but his 2025 tape forced teams to take a longer look. Still relatively new to football, Herron offers size, ability and a developing skill set. He is quick into his slide to cut off speed in pass pro, although his initial movements are better than his reactionary quickness, which can leave him tied in knots against shifty rushers. His punches don’t consistently land, opening rush opportunities. He can work down and use his strength in the run game but needs to stay balanced to be a better finisher. Overall, Herron is inconsistent in multiple areas, but he made noticeable improvements during his senior season that give NFL evaluators optimism he still has room to grow.
