Scouting Dossier

PFF
Strengths
● Mid-cut frame with adequate overall size, length and build ● Balanced athlete to mirror and evade at the line of scrimmage ● Quick to trigger, drive on the ball or take on pulling blockers ● Enough range to play cutbacks by ball carriers ● Glows with pride when asked about his violent play style ● Flashes secondary quickness to find the ball after he escapes blocks ● Efficient working the edge and timing up blitzes ● Made stops on kick coverages as a senior starter ● Not a vocal leader but a 2025 captain and well-respected by peers because of his training and work ethic ● Productive tackling numbers the past two seasons
Weaknesses
● Tape is plagued by missed tackles caused by his aggressive pursuit ● Creates wild angles and ball carriers escape his grasp ● Spotty take-on hands and inconsistent leveraging inside gaps ● Can be overwhelmed by blockers (even tight ends) ● Too flat-footed and reactive in coverage ● Inconsistent spacing as middle hook defender ● Undisciplined penalties showed up in multiple games (offsides, roughing the passer, unsportsmanlike conduct)
Projection
A two-year starter at Arkansas, Sorey bounced between multiple linebacker spots in former defensive coordinator Travis Williams’ 4-2-5 base scheme. A five-star recruit at Georgia, he spent three years as a backup in Athens before transferring to Fayetteville in 2024. He led the Razorbacks in tackles as a junior and senior (7.2 tackles per game). A run-and-hit linebacker, Sorey is a rangy athlete with the trigger quickness and motor to fill up the stat sheet. He is an aggressive and violent player, although his strength doesn’t always match his intentions and overpursuit leads to excessive misses versus the run and pass. Overall, Sorey doesn’t play with the consistency required for NFL starting snaps, but his athleticism and effort will help him compete for a spot on the back end of a roster and a special teams role.
