Scouting Dossier

Projection
Anterio Thompson grew up in Madison, Wis., with his parents (Tyshaun and Areal Greenwood) and was primarily a basketball player. For his senior year, he attended Hempstead High School in Dubuque, Iowa, and joined the football team as a defensive lineman. He earned all-region honors (39 tackles, seven tackles for loss and one sack). Thompson signed with Iowa Western Community College in June 2021 and helped the program win the NJCAA Division I championship in 2022. A three-star junior college recruit, he picked up offers from Illinois, Nebraska and others before signing with Iowa. He blocked a pair of punts in 2023 but didn’t see much playing time on defense and transferred to Western Michigan. After the 2024 season, he went back into the portal and spent the 2025 season at Washington. Thompson doesn’t have a robust college resume — he had mediocre production at four different programs over the last four years. But his on-field flashes and testing numbers have him squarely on the NFL radar. He is late off the ball more than you’d like to see, but when he times it right, his lateral agility and linear burst allow him to shoot gaps. Though he needs to mature his technique versus double teams, he plays stout against base blocks and has the hand strength to snatch and shed. He can unlock and go with a clear path to the ball. However, his momentum gets away from him, and he needs to better break down on the move to make stops. Overall, Thompson needs to develop better consistency, but his upfield quickness, raw strength and special teams impact (three blocked punts in college) are intriguing qualities that can be further developed.
