Projection
Tyreek Chappell (shuh-PELL) grew up in Philadelphia and started playing football at age 4. His father (Merrill), who coached him from
little league (Oxford Circle Raiders) through high school, first introduced him to football. Tyreek has a 2-year-old daughter.
He originally attended Archbishop Ryan High School, where he was a standout running back and wide receiver, while also seeing snaps
at cornerback and as a returner. He transferred to Northeast High School for his final two years of high school.
A three-star recruit, he was recruited as an athlete and committed to Texas A&M over Michigan and others. He moved to cornerback
full-time and had a Freshman All-America first season with the Aggies. After missing almost all the 2024 season because of a knee
injury, he moved to nickel as a senior in 2025.
Chappell’s move from outside corner to nickel forced him to become more of a student of the game, so he could handle varying
responsibilities, from run fits to coverage duties. His size/speed traits are adequate, but not ideal if asked to match up with big, physical
tight ends or speedy slots. He showed the ability to maintain body position downfield and find the ball for breakup opportunities.
Though he plays more physically than he looks, that also leads to grabby actions. He gets busy in run support and will miss fewer tackles
the more he hones his angles and finishing form. Overall, Chappell has the reactionary quickness and mentality to compete
for a depth role at corner or nickel, although his lack of desired size and explosiveness could be limiting factors.
