Projection
Trebor Pena, who has an older brother, was born in the Bronx, N.Y., with his mother (Davina Pena). He attended Ocean Township High
School and played running back, wide receiver and defensive back. He earned first-team all-state honors as a senior, with 1,550 rushing
yards and 23 total touchdowns, while adding five interceptions on defense. He also lettered in track and won the conference title in the
long jump (22 feet 6.75 inches).
A 3-star recruit, Pena originally committed to Temple before flipping to Syracuse. He suffered two season-ending injuries over his first
four seasons with the Orange, before breaking out in 2024 while catching passes from Kyle McCord. During the 2025 offseason, he
made a “business decision” to transfer after Syracuse reportedly was unwilling to match a seven-figure NIL offer from Penn State. His
production declined, but he led the Nittany Lions in catches and receiving yards.
Pena doesn’t offer top-tier physical traits, which shows in his struggles to win vertically or in tight coverage, when good-sized defenders
too easily crowd him (his contested catches dropped from 18 in 2024 to just three in ’25). However, he plays with excellent awareness in
his route construction to create short-to-intermediate windows for his quarterback. He is also balanced and competitive after the catch
to break tackles and get more yards than expected. He was a punt returner at both Syracuse and Penn State (averaged 8.1 career yards
per return). Overall, Pena is an average size/speed athlete who wins more with feel and toughness than sudden snap in
his route running. He projects as a slot option and punt returner.
