Scouting Dossier
Projection
Star’Corius “Star” Thomas, the middle of three children in his family, grew up outside of Shreveport, La., with his mother (Jacqueline).
He attended Homer High School, where he was a four-year letterman in Class 1A, the state’s smallest classification. As a senior in 2019,
he earned all-state honors, with 1,692 rushing yards (8.4 yards per carry) and 20 touchdowns on 202 attempts. He started at Coffeyville
(Kan.) Community College for two years before transferring to New Mexico State, where he shared a backfield with quarterback Diego
Pavia. He then transferred to Duke for the 2024 season and was elevated to starter after Jaquez Moore suffered an injury. Thomas again
entered the portal ahead of his final season in 2025 and landed at Tennessee, where he averaged 5.7 ypc as a backup.
Thomas has the lateral quickness to stack cuts on cuts on cuts. He can be too willing to bounce outside, instead of anticipating the
designed lane, but he routinely reaches the linebacker level using his active eyes and darting footwork (rushed for 10-plus yards on 16.3
percent of his carries). He claps the ball at times as a pass catcher, but his hand strength stands out. His pass blocking is adequate, and
he didn’t fumble in 2025. Overall, Thomas runs with a combination of balance and burst to chip away at the defense,
although he will need to be more consistent on special teams and third downs to nail down an NFL roster spot.
