Scouting Dossier
Projection
Evan Robert Svoboda (sva-Bo-Da), who has three siblings, was born and raised outside of Phoenix by his parents (Scott and Nicole). He
weighed 10.5 pounds and was 23 inches long at birth, and he was always bigger for his age growing up. Svoboda originally played
linebacker before moving to quarterback in junior high. He attended Red Mountain High School, where he was a three-sport standout,
including basketball and track — he qualified for states in the javelin (school-record 170 feet, 4 inches) and triple jump. He was a
three-year starting quarterback for the varsity team.
A two-star recruit, he passed on FCS offers to enroll at Snow (Utah) College for the 2021 season. His one-year stint in junior college
helped him earn an FBS offer at Wyoming. He played quarterback his first three years in Laramie, including an uneven performance as
the starter in 2024. After the 2024 season, he made a position switch to tight end for his senior year.
Svoboda is only one year into his shift from lifelong quarterback to tight end. He is a well-built athlete, with explosiveness off the line
and coordination in his routes and catch-point techniques. However, he is unpolished in his depth and tempo as a route runner, and he
needs more time on the Jugs machine (dropped four of 18 targets in 2025). He also lacks technique as a blocker, but the tools are there
for him to continue getting better. Overall, Svoboda is understandably raw at tight end, but he showed promise in 2025,
and his athletic traits — especially for his size — make him a worthwhile project for an NFL staff to develop on the
practice squad.
