Scouting Dossier
Strengths
● Passes the eye test with a tall frame filled out with muscular mass
● Hard guy to move from his spot, based just on size
● Fires off the ball and quickly gets long arms extended
● Uses bully power in backside gaps to displace blockers and find the backfield
● Can be used on loops, but pass-rush profile is based on pushing the pocket
● Hands are violent and physical, allowing him to leverage run gaps and find ball carrier
● Heavy tackler and makes ball carrier feel his force
● Large wingspan to clothesline cutback runners with one arm
● Reserved and well-respected in defensive-line room
Weaknesses
● Taller stature; doesn’t consistently roll his hips into blocks
● Occasionally loses gap integrity in run game and can be late to get it back
● Struggles to counter cut blocks and spends too much time on the ground
● Feet tend to lose life once he’s engaged
● Secondary rush moves don’t have teeth
● Battled knee injury, which required a scope, throughout 2021 season; missed three games because of a left ankle sprain (Nov.
2024)
● Arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm on campus and failure to exercise care while operating a motor vehicle
(Feb. 2024); the charges were expunged through a pretrial intervention program, and he was reinstated to the team
● Below-average career production (34 pressures, 13.5 tackles for loss, three sacks)
Projection
A part-time starter at Clemson, Capehart played the one-/2i-technique role in defensive coordinator Tom Allen’s front. He was also part
of the offense’s jumbo packages in goal-line situations. A former five-star recruit, he battled injuries early on and struggled to command
a full-time role over six years in the program. He averaged just 28.9 defensive snaps per game in 2025 and finished his career with 892
snaps over 57 games.
Capehart is a massive, powerful human who moves like a much smaller person. He fires off the snap with a linear burst (which his
combine numbers backed up) and uses full extension to press blockers, lock out and find the football. He is an inconsistent shed player
and strains to muddy up the run game. As a pass rusher, he has yet to prove himself as anything more than a pocket pusher. Overall,
Capehart has impressive traits and flashes disruptive ability, but he hasn’t been able to take that next step in his
development. Though he doesn’t earn a starter projection, he can make an impact as a rotational plugger, regardless
of scheme.
