Scouting Dossier
Projection
Mory (More-ee) Bamba (BOM-bah) grew up in Wisconsin with his mother (Matogomah Cisse), who immigrated to the United States
from Ivory Coast. He speaks both French and Mandinka. He attended Menomonee Falls High School, where he was a track standout all
four years (qualified for states with a triple jump of 43 feet 11.75 inches). He also played football but was undersized, as he had yet to hit
his growth spurt. He played cornerback as a senior for Menomonee Falls in 2018.
He originally attended Wisconsin-Oshkosh to run track in 2019 before deciding to revive his football career. He found an opportunity at
ASA College in North Miami Beach, Fla., and got on the field in 2021. He transferred to Tyler (Texas) Junior College in spring of 2022,
and he later drew interest from several Division I programs, offers from Austin Peay and Incarnate Word. BYU officially offered in June
2022, and he committed a few weeks later after an on-campus visit. Despite never becoming a regular starter for the Cougars, his
playing time increased each of his four years in Provo.
Bamba has a rare combination of body length and speed, which allows him to connect himself to vertical patterns and stay in position.
He has a thin build through his hips and in his lower half — he looks like a former track athlete. He can be inconsistent in his mirror and
match at the line, and there is some tightness in his leggy turns. He might be better suited for zone, where he can read the quarterback’s
eyes, but regardless, he needs to play with better ball skills in coverage. Some tackle attempts are an adventure, but he has adequate
toughness for run support. Overall, Bamba doesn’t have NFL-level production or consistency, but his raw size/speed
traits are intriguing enough to get the attention of NFL teams.
